We’re sharing the best farmers markets in Chicago to satisfy all your fresh food cravings — because in the city, there’s nothing we love more than a little taste of the countryside.

Green City Market

The Green City Market in Lincoln Park offers all the best vendors, plus a gorgeous park setting. During their outdoor season, the market is open every Wednesday and Saturday, 7 AM – 1 PM, from May through October. Alongside fresh fruit and veggies, you can expect to find crepes, pizza and delicious pie from Hoosier Mama Pie Company. Our tip: bike to this farmer’s market along the lakeshore bike trail for a convene with nature on the journey there and back.

Logan Square Farmers Market

The Logan Square Farmers Market is the premier hipster hotspot on the west side of Chicago. During their outdoor season, they operate every Sunday from 10 AM – 3 PM, from May through October. Sprawling along Logan Blvd between Milwaukee and Whipple is an endless assortment of vendors that are sure to please. We feel confident saying that no other farmer’s market in the city offers such variety — you can expect to find fruits, veggies, flowers, baked goods, craft soup, crepes, elotes, tamales, gelato and other street food galore. Our tip: bring your picnic blanket to spread out your feast in the grass beneath the Illinois Centennial Monument.

SOAR Farmers Market

The SOAR Farmers Market is a sight to behold, with vendor tents canvassing the front steps of the Museum of Contemporary Art. The market is held every Tuesday, 7 AM – 2 PM, through October. Here you’ll find fruit, veggies, flowers and prepared food vendors all together, guaranteed to keep your Tuesday exciting. Not to mention, they hold chef demonstrations on the last Tuesday of every month. The front steps of the MCA have never been better used than for snacking on your scrumptious finds. Our tip: after getting your fill, visit the museum—every Tuesday, admission is free for Illinois residents!

Federal Plaza Farmers Market

The Federal Plaza Farmers Market is truly the best clash of city and country. Shop for fruits, veggies and more in this urban square surrounded by Chicago’s most classic downtown skyscrapers. The market is held every Tuesday, 7 AM – 2 PM, from May through October. No other farmer’s market can say that it’s held beneath an Alexander Calder. Our tip: a must-buy item at this farmers market is Do-Rite Donuts.
