Explore Chi-eats During Chicago Restaurant Week
3 January 2019
January has finally arrived and there are already many things to be excited about, particularly for food lovers in Chicago. The 12th annual Chicago Restaurant Week from Choose Chicago returns this month giving all of us, including residents of 1000M, the opportunity to explore the city through its wonderful selection of cuisine. From southern heritage food at Big Jones in Andersonville to American contemporary at The Promontory in Hyde Park, there are over 390 participating restaurants to choose from, all the evidence we need that the dinner party is far from over.
To kick off this year’s two-week event, Choose Chicago is hosting a First Bites Bash at the Field Museum featuring Chef Joe Flamm of Spiaggia, Chicago’s Michelin-starred Italian eatery, with drinks from local mixologist Jarmel Doss from The Aviary.
Not familiar with how Chicago Restaurant Week works? This year, 390 participating restaurants will offer exclusive prix fixe menus alongside their regular a la carte offerings at both lunch and dinner. So, if you’re someone who knows what you want and like to frequent the same spot, there will be no interruption to your regularly scheduled dining. However, we recommend grabbing a reservation, because these delicious menus are offered at great prices.
This appetizing event is also paying it forward in partnership with Stella Artois, giving developing countries clean water for a month with every purchase of Stella at participating restaurants. While the catalogue of menus to choose from seems hard to navigate, there are no wrong answers.
Chicago Restaurant Week runs through January 25 to February 7, with brunch/lunch menus at $24 and dinner for $36 and/or $48. Visit Choose Chicago for a complete list of participating restaurants. Tickets to the First Bites Bash on January 24 are $125 and can be purchased through Eventbrite.
