6 June 2019

There’s no time better than summer in the city. Chicago is host to countless festivals and events, with something new and exciting to do always waiting to be discovered. 1000M is located across from Grant and Millennium Park, two of Chicago’s most happening hubs. The Grant Park Music Festival is just one example of the fantastic summer programming, and there are a few other nearby favorite Chicago summer festivals to check out:

Printers Row Lit Fest, June 8-9

Printers Row is a pocket neighborhood in the South Loop, named, of course, for being the Midwestern center for printing the late 1800s. The Printers Row Lit Fest honors the literary roots of the area, taking place on Dearborn Street between Polk Street and Ida B. Wells Drive. 2019 heralds in the fest’s 35th annual book fair. The festival includes countless book dealers and related event programming, including author readings and talks.

Millennium Art Festival, June 28-30

There’s no better place to enjoy art outdoors than on the same street as the Art Institute. At Michigan Avenue and Lake Street, the Millennium Art Festival’s eleventh year brings you over 110 artists showcasing an array of mediums. The festival also includes live performances, tasty treats from several vendors and interactive experiences.

Taste of Chicago, July 10-14

Hungry for something delicious and easy, but not in the mood for takeout? During a July weekend, 1000M residents can walk right out their front door and across the street to Grant Park, where the Taste of Chicago takes place. This outdoor food festival showcases the best that Chicago’s dining scene has to offer, alongside music and activities.

South Loop Beer & Cider Fest, July 27

Though Chicago is home to countless breweries and beer festivals, the best ones are always those that you can walk to from home. The South Loop Beer & Cider Fest takes place at Women’s Park during late July. Over the course of the afternoon, you can indulge in tasting over a hundred different kinds of beers, while enjoying live entertainment and delicious food truck fare.

Chicago Summer Dance, Every Wednesday & Sunday June 27-August 24

In the mood to groove, and maybe even learn a few new moves? Happening in the Grant Park Spirit of Music Garden every Wednesday and Sunday for most of the summer, the Chicago Summer Dance Festival Series brings DJs and dances across genres. 48 different live bands and DJs are accompanied by dance lessons, so that you can try everything from swing to waltz to cha-cha.

1000M’s location in the vibrant South Loop neighborhood keeps residents close to all the best that the city has to offer, including the endless list of Chicago summer festivals!
