From its beginnings, Chicago has always inspired artistic expression. From the World’s Exposition in 1893, to the founding of the Art Institute of Chicago, artists have been drawn to our thriving city that connects commerce with surrounding nature. Today, Chicago remains a hub for creativity, and this weekend, our city is host to EXPO CHICAGO, an international contemporary and modern art exhibition. Starting tonight, EXPO CHICAGO will open the fall art season within the vast, vaulted halls of Navy Pier, presenting from over 3,000 artists. The exposition, with its seventh edition, offers a dynamic roster of programming including panel discussions, uniquely curated site-specific projects, cutting-edge film and new media work, curator-led tours and special exhibitions by renowned institutions.
Dedicated to rigorous, rich programming, EXPO CHICAGO has fostered strategic international partnerships, built alongside strong institutional relationships with major local museums and organizations to open parallel exhibitions and events. The 2018 edition of EXPO CHICAGO will align with Art Design Chicago, an initiative of the Terra Foundation for American Art, to present various programs and events throughout EXPO ART WEEK (September 24–30, 2018) including after-hours events at museums, panel discussions, performances, and activations across the city. Local galleries are supporting special programming and exhibitions to coincide with the influx of visitors from across the globe to Chicago.
At the intersection of the beauty of nature and the bustle of the city, 1000M is central to Chicago’s ever-expanding art ecosystem. To check out EXPO CHICAGO this weekend at Navy Pier, you can purchase tickets on their website.
