First look inside planned Helmut Jahn condo tower
3 October 2017
“The developers of a planned 74-story condo tower on South Michigan Avenue are adding more than a pinch of salt to the menu of amenities they serve up for residents. They’re adding a whole room: a Himalayan salt therapy room where users can reap the purported wellness benefits of surrounding oneself with salty air.
Also planned for 1000M, a tower designed by architect Helmut Jahn with interiors by Chicago designer Kara Mann, are an acoustically engineered music performance room overlooking Grant Park, a yoga room with a wall-sized video screen for an immersive experience of doing yoga or meditating in (for example) a mountaintop setting and a golf simulator room where the concierge can set up tee times at virtual versions of some of the world’s top courses.
“We’ve reinvented the amenity floor with a wellness theme,” said Frances Greenberger, CEO of New York-based Time Equities, one of three firms partnering on the project at 1000 S. Michigan Avenue. With its sales center opening this week in an existing building at 1006 S. Michigan, the development and sales team gave Crain’s a tour.”
