Online Yoga and Mindfulness
31 March 2020
During this stressful time, it’s important to take time to ground ourselves and practice mindfulness. Luckily, many yoga studios and leaders throughout fitness communities have heeded the call to transition yogic practice and mindfulness to the online realm. Today, we’re spotlighting opportunities to find some peace and calm with gone-digital yoga classes:
River North’s Chill Chicago practices Modern Meditation in equally modern digs. However, with the studio closing due to the shelter-in-place order and in keeping up with their modernity, Chill Chicago is taking classes online via Instagram Live and Zoom. On both platforms, you can join them for guided meditation. On their Instagram, they also host family sessions, dance parties and sound meditation. You can get more details on their website here.
If you have a membership with the popular chain, CorePower Yoga, you can still reap the benefits from home. To help members keep up with their practice, CorePower is offering “OnDemand” yoga classes, with a vast selection of long and short sessions on a wide range of subjects. There’s no time like the present to explore and expand your practice with this diverse online class offering.
Find Your Groove on YouTube
For novice yogis, YouTube is the perfect way to dip your toe into the practice for free. Sometimes the amount of options on YouTube can be daunting — but there’s no question that you can find anything your heart desires on this global video platform. To help get you started: you can check out the channel Yoga with Adriene to find classes that match your mood (not to mention stretch alongside her sweet pup). Meanwhile, YouTuber Leslie Fightmaster offers short-form video sessions and a practice that emphasizes happiness and well-being.
Stay tuned for more ways to stay connected, engaged and enriched during the pandemic, as we continue to practice mindfulness even in challenging times.
