Patio Season in Chicago
16 May 2019
When the first rays of summer sun hit the city, everyone knows what it means: the outdoor season has begun. And there’s no better way to take advantage than to lounge on a patio eating delicious food. With 1000M in the heart of Chicago’s South Loop, outdoor dining options have never been more bountiful. 1000M is right across from Grant Park and Millennium Park, which means your new favorite restaurant might be too.
Terzo Piano is the upscale, contemporary restaurant and bar on the third floor of the Art Institute in the Modern Wing. Italian-Mediterranean influenced fare is the signature cuisine of Chef Tony Mantuan, who is also chef-partner at River Roast and Spiaggia. The lunch menu is available Monday-Saturday, with dinner on Thursday evenings and brunch on Sundays. There is both indoor and outdoor dining space, with the patio overlooking Millennium Park and the stunning array of skyscrapers along Michigan Avenue.
Cindy’s rooftop bar is a beloved Cultural Mile haunt during the summer months. This bar and seasonal fare eatery is the jewel in the crown of the Chicago Athletic Association Hotel. The fresh food and atmosphere are complemented by sweeping, panoramic views of Millennium Park and Lake Michigan to the east. There’s no other place in the city where you can be on the thirteenth floor and still somehow feel like you’re at a beach house.
Eleven City Diner
Eleven City Diner boasts Jewish deli standards and American fare in a classic diner setting. The rootbeer from the soda fountain at this South Loop staple is unbeatably delicious. Owner Brad Rubin created the diner to rekindle fond childhood memories of the family diner atmosphere and comfort—and it shows. The only thing that will make you want to leave this diner’s cozy, neon-lighted interior is their sidewalk patio!
Rosebud Prime Chicago
Rosebud Prime is everything you want from your traditional patio season outing—steak, seafood and wine. All this fare on a bustling Michigan Avenue-docked patio, with white table-clothed tables and classic wicker bistro chairs. The gorgeous and bright flower boxes surrounding this patio give a sense of privacy and intimacy even on Chicago’s most bustling stretch of the Cultural Mile.
Atwood Chicago is a stylish restaurant with features bold and inventive American fare and craft cocktails. Here, they’re all about modern cuisine in a historic setting, with their patio looking up at their gorgeous 19th century gem of a building on State Street. The umbrella-covered tables and latticed chairs give a Parisian feel to dining on the streets of Chicago.
And in case you choose to stay in, or need a post-dinner drink, residents will be able to take full advantage of summer sun at the 1000M lounge on Level 11 at the Sun Deck or gather with friends around our Fire Pit nestled in The Gardens.
